The Community Nutrition Education Services, Incorporated (CNESINC) established in 2006 moved from Los Angeles, California to the Mid-South (USA) specifically Central Arkansas in early 2013.
The Central Arkansas location is my native home. The surrounding area is known as the “Arkansas River Valley”. The specific town of Morrilton, along the “Arkansas River” is very close to the “Petit Jean Mountain”. It is also located along the “Trail of Tears” / "Butterfield Trail". The town’s location is approximately 60 miles northwest of Arkansas’ Capitol at Little Rock. The rural small town environment is a long way from the very urban Los Angeles, California.
The move provides both challenges and new opportunities. The plan currently underway is to revitalize our family’s small fruit/vegetable/poultry-egg/ farm. The land has not been utilized for farming for more than 20years.The location will provide a great laboratory for teaching nutrition on a community level especially as related to fruits, vegetables, poultry, and fish. A stocked fish pond has already been established. Please view our photo gallery as we chronicle our success and challenges of the new phase of the nonprofit organization.
My colleagues back in California (Salinas) will continue to work on community based projects. We will also keep you updated on their efforts.
